ACROSS TF2 on Cross-layer QoE management Progress report – October 2015 ICT COST Action IC1304 Autonomous Control for a Reliable Internet of Services (ACROSS)

2 TF2 telcos held since the last meeting in Wuerzburg – dedicated to check a status of TF2 activities – Note 1 : 11 TF2 telcos in total held up to now (regular basis) – Note 2: a couple of telcos also held in TF2 IGs (ad hoc basis) TF consists of 21 members spreaded across Europe and Israel – 2 new members since the last meeting in Wuerzburg 5 active IGs - no change since the last meeting 2 Summary of main facts: ACROSS TF2 Progress report – October 2015

Leader: Florian Metzger (Univesity of Duisburg-Essen, D) Number of members: 11 Focus: User-centric, context-aware QoE monitoring & network management Outputs: – QCMan 2015 paper presented by Tobias in Ottawa, Canada already indexed in IEEE Xplore, authored by 7 IG1 members – A journal paper dealing with a context monitoring submitted to Computer Networks (Elsevier) in July – no feedback so far an extension of the QCMan 2015 paper, authored by 10 IG1 members 3 IG1: A context-based QoE monitoring ACROSS TF2 Progress report – October 2015

– 1 talk going to be given at ETSI STQ workshop (Vienna, Austria) on Telecommunication Quality beyond 2015 by Eirini Liotou on the following topic: An SDN-based QoE-Service for Dynamically Enhancing the Performance of OTT Applications Current activities: – designing a cloud gaming experiment – working on follow-up activities based on the above mentioned papers 3 IG1: A context-based QoE monitoring ACROSS TF2 Progress report – October 2015

Leader: Thomas Zinner (Univesity of Wuerzburg, D) Number of members: 9 Focus: – A cross-layer SLA/QoS management for multi cloud-based services – Application-Network Interaction Output: – A paper dealing with QoS-based route selection in Healthcare Cloud accepted for publication at CEMA 2015 to be held soon in Bulgaria – authored by Rasa Bruzgiene and her colleagues 5 IG3: A cross-layer QoE management ACROSS TF2 Progress report – October 2015

– 2 talks going to be given at ETSI STQ workshop (Vienna, Austria) on Telecommunication Quality beyond 2015 by Peter Pocta on the following topics: Black box analysis of WebRTC jitter buffer behavior and impact on POLQA predictions – a joint work with NUIG Ireland Subjective and Objective Assessment of Perceived Audio Quality of Current Digital Audio Broadcasting Systems and Web-Casting Applications – a joint work with TNO, Delft, The Netherlands Current activities: – initiating some activities 5 IG3: A cross-layer QoE management ACROSS TF2 Progress report – October 2015

Outputs: – A paper dealing with Time Awareness in SDN presented at EuCNC 2015 in Paris by Hugh Melvin – a joint work with UniZA – A paper dealing with Delay issues in WebRTC submitted to a special issue of Communications journal – no feedback so far, a joint work of NUIG and UniZA 6 IG4: Time-aware applications, computers and communication systems ACROSS TF2 Progress report – October 2015
