 Friction- is a force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are in contact

 Amount of friction depends on the force pushing the surfaces together. Objects that weigh more have more friction.

 Rough surfaces have the most friction. carpet  Smooth surfaces have less friction Ice

 Is the friction between two moving surfaces.  Surfaces can slide past one another.  Roll over another surface  Writing with a pencil or rolling anything with wheels.

 When a force is applied to an object but does not cause the object to move.

 Allows us to move.  Harm by wearing down moving objects.

How to Decrease  Use gels, oils and grease.  Sliding or moving with wheels. How to Increase  Makes surfaces rougher.  Athletes wear gloves to help get more friction to catch or grip objects.
