#2 – A New Covenant In Blood

 Animal blood sacrifice ended with the resurrection of Jesus.  Replaced with Human blood sacrifice.  Covenant must be purchased with blood.

Hebrews 9:2-3 – “For there was a tabernacle prepared, the outer one, in which were the lampstand and the table and the sacred bread; this is called the holy place. Behind the second veil there was a tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies….

Hebrews 9: Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests are continually entering the outer tabernacle performing the divine worship, but into the second, only the high priest enters once a year, not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance.

 Hebrews 9: But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Covenant DEMANDS Blood Hebrews 9:18 -- Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.

 Hebrews 9:22 -- And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

 John 6:27 -- Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal.”

 John 6:35, Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst…. I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

 John 6: So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

 First sacrifices: blood on the altar  Passover: Blood on the door frames  Sinai: Blood sprinkled on the people  Calvary: Drinking the blood of Jesus  Blood is imperative for eternal life

 Matthew 26: And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 9:12 -- … and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 9:14 --how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Hebrews 10:19 -- Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus…. Hebrews 12:24 -- …and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel. Hebrews 13:20 -- Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord….
