أفعَلُ أَحسَنُ أَصغَرُ أجمَلُ اسمُ التَّفضيلِ أفعَلُ Comparative or Superlative Degrees أفعَلُ (A diptote pattern!) أَحسَنُ Diptotes have no “tanwin” أفعَلُ أَصغَرُ أجمَلُ All masculine, feminine, singular, plural use this pattern Comparative and Superlative Adjectives in Arabic use this pattern Happy Land for Islamic Teachings

أفعَلُ اسمُ التَّفضيلِ حامِدٌ أطوَلُ مِن بِلالٍ Comparative or Superlative Degrees أفعَلُ If this pattern is followed by a noun in genitive case (اسم مجرور ) then it is to be translated as superlative degree If this pattern is followed byمِن the comparison will be translated as “than” حامِدٌ أطوَلُ مِن بِلالٍ إبراهِيمُ أحسَنُ طالِبٍ فِي الفَصلِ Hamid is taller than Bilal. Ibrahim is the best student in the class. الأبناءُ أطوَلُ مِن البَناتِ فاطِمَةُ أكبَرُ طالِبَةٍ فِي الفَصلِنا The sons are taller than the daughters Fatima is the eldest student in our class.

Form the superlative degree of the following nouns and translate اسمُ التَّفضيلِ اسمُ التَّفضيلِ كبيرٌ سهلٌ  big easy كثيرٌ صعبٌ  many hard, difficult فقيرٌ  طويلٌ poor tall, long جميلٌ طيبٌ  pretty nice

Form the superlative degree of the following nouns and translate اسمُ التَّفضيلِ اسمُ التَّفضيلِ كبيرٌ أكبرُ  سهلٌ  أسهلُ big bigger easy easier كثيرٌ أكثرُ  صعبٌ  أصعبُ many more hard, difficult harder فقيرٌ  أفقرُ  طويلٌ أطولُ  poor poorer tall, long taller, longer جميلٌ أجملُ  طيبٌ  أطيبُ pretty prettier nice nicer Happy Land for Islamic Teachings
