EVERYDAY USE By: Alice Walker Learning Target: We will read and analyze this short story to figure out its theme. We will compare and contrast this short story to the poem that we have just read.

About the Author, Alice Walker… Watch the video and pay attention to what inspired Alice Walker as a writer. First Read: We will start by reading the story together, than you will read in groups. As you read, complete each KEY IDEAS AND DETAILS questions on the sides of the story. Also, annotate and highlight, paying specific attention to your table groups task.
