Built the Forum Center of the city, seat of Roman government and law. Under the Etruscans, Rome becomes one of the richest cities in Italy.
Tarquin the Proud 534 B.C. Cruel Romans revolted in 509 B.C. Drove Tarquins out Pledged to never have a king again Many skilled Etruscan workers and artists remained in Rome.

▪ Patricians: powerful landowners that controlled government ▪ Inherited power ▪ Plebians: majority of population, farmers & workers ▪ Had few rights (could vote, not hold office) ▪ Did not know laws, laws weren’t written ▪ Greatest victory – got laws written down 450 B.C., Roman laws engraved in 12 tablets
