Reporting of “other information considered relevant to the achievement of the objective of the Convention” Overview of the CGE template on cross-cutting issues Cairo, Egyp 20 to 22 september 2007

Introduction  Recommendation made at the Workshop on the preparation of NCs from NAI, Manila, Filipinas, 26 to 30 April 2004: To develop and disseminates a template within the user manual on the guidelines for the preparation of NCs from NAI to facilitate the reporting of information on cross-cutting issues.  CGE agreed, with the assistance of the secretariat, to develop a template on cross- cutting themes, Maputo, Mozanbique, 14 to 15 April 2004  At SBI 24, Parties endorsed the efforts of the CGE to develop a template on cross-cutting themes.

The CGE template  Is based on: - The guidelines for the preparation of NCs from NAI Parties (decision 17/CP.8) - The user manual prepared by the secretariat - Relevant decisions by Parties relating to development and transfer of technologies, capacity-building, education and training and public awareness.  During the preparation EGTT and LEG provided comments.  The objective is to aid NAI Parties on the information that may be provided, subject to availability of data, under the section “Other information considered relevant to achievement of the objective of the Convention.

The template does not represent additional guidelines for the preparation of NCs from NAI Parties.
