Teenage Dating Violence “Dating violence is a huge problem in the United States. One in three teens and young adults in the United States go through some form of dating violence. Many do not tell because they do not want friends and family to know” (New York Times, 2014)

Teenage Dating Violence Statistics Studies were completed in 2006, 2008 and 2009 by Liz Claiborne, Inc. and Macy’s. Among teenagers in grades 6-12

2009 Study Statistics The numbers were unexpectedly high Controlling behaviors (from a boyfriend or a girlfriend) 47% 80% of individuals knew someone who has been a victim of abuse

H.R will “amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to authorize the use of funds for the inclusion in domestic violence education programs of information available to teenage victims of dating violence”
