Twelve Roses of Texas tune: Yellow Rose of Texas

Delta Kappa Gamma was formed in ’29

By twelve distinctive women Whose ideas were mighty fine.

These twelve were all from Texas, They shared a common bond.

They were in education, Their thoughts went way beyond.

Annie, Ruby Mamie, Mable, Anna, Sue Helen, Lalla, Cora, Ray, Ruby, Lela, too!

All twelve were leading women with a vision in their mind.

To form an educator’s group that would benefit humankind.

The flower is the red rose, The colors crimson and gold,

Courage and loyalty are what these colors show

They united women educators all around the earth

In a spirit of fellowship and professional worth

Now 80 years have come and gone and we’ve withstood the test

We caught their spirit and their song and put forth all our best

We’re thankful that we have this chance To reach throughout this land

In their wisdom we rejoice and Sing with joined raised hands!
