GO GREEN Green Machine Non-Profit Organization

The Green Machine non-profit organization is here today because a group of 4-5 people got together every year to clean up highways and ditches. After about 3 years other people started to join them and there soon was about people cleaning up garbage. They decided that if they all pitched in a little bit of money they could start a foundation that would donate money to those who need it. Now, we have added other events to bring in more people and make the day a fun adventure while cleaning up the community.

Situation Tables are worn out Not enough seating in the park Not very many volunteers help out More and more people have been joining our origination and we don’t have enough spots for people to relax in the park p&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=930&q=g o+green&oq

Analysis Put fliers out asking for volunteers Varnish/stain old wood picnic tables Buy plastic folding tables and chairs Buy lighter wood picnic tables.

Recommendation Take old table and stain/varnish them Buy plastic picnic tables More volunteers = less scrambling Seating expanded with both plastic and old tables $900 This way we aren’t wasting anything we already have and they will be easy to clean and store away.

Recommendation Put fliers out or go out asking: by going out to peoples’ house and asking them and informing what we are trying to do, might convince them to come in and help out. Setting up fliers would make people aware of what the organization is about and how they can help out. Buy plastic folding tables and chairs: a simple plastic chair would cost $10 and a table is about $50. Buying 20 chairs and 10 tables would cost roughly around $700. Stain the old picnic tables to reuse them: this solution would save more money than the solution above. A wood varnish would cost about $15 a can save hundreds of dollars for the tables. The only problem would be that we need more seating areas for people during the day. Buy lighter wood picnic tables: the last solution we came up with would be to buy new wood picnic tables that are lighter to carry/move around. This wouldn’t ruin the soft ground as badly and with new softer surfaces would be easier to clean. The cheapest wood table we found was about $180 and would fit about six people.

Implement Wash them after every use. Varnish/stain the chairs every other year. Store them in a safe place. (Storage, basement, or closet.) Clean the clothes right after so there isn’t any stains. Create a schedule for the volunteers that isn’t too hectic.

Evaluate More progress every month after it is finished Send pictures of the area Add donations to the park /call about how helpful it had been

Story There was a donation made to a hospital down in Iowa to a 7 year old boy. He was diagnosed with cancer at age 4 and has been battling it for 3 long years. His family lives in an apartment with 6 other kids. They haven’t been able to afford any of his treatments and he is been in very poor conditions. We donate $10,000 every 6 months to help support the family and there needs. With this donation they have been able to cure his cancer and help the family rent a bigger house for them all.

If we were able to get the money for new supplies we would make sure to keep in touch with you to let you know how it looks now and after. Even after this years event we will send you what he park looks like every year and show how well it has improved. We hope to keep on adding new events and additions to the park each year.
