IPADS FOR TENNYSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Green Technology Team 11/23/10

Environment  Tennyson Elementary School in Natchez, MS  There are approximately 300 students in the school with an average class size of 25.  TES is a Title I school.  In the state, Tennyson Elementary School is one of the lower in literacy scores.

Advocacy  We, the Green Technology Team, are advocating for a full set of iPads (30), a MacBook Pro, and iTunes/iBook credit for TES.  The school will be able to use these resources to increase literacy through different applications, interactive learning, and utilize leveled instruction.

Objective  MacBook: With this, the iPads can be routed to the laptop so that voting and other interactive activities can be accomplished.  iPads: These will be used for reading, listening to books, and many interactive applications to improve literacy.  iTunes/iBook credit: We will purchase audio books, electronic books, and other applications for students to utilize in the classroom.

Price Breakdown  MacBook- $1,200  30 iPads- $15,000  iTunes/iBook credit- $3,800

Importance of Literacy “We listen a book a day. We speak a book a week. We read a book a month and we write a book a year.” – Walter Loban -
