Where do blizzards happen? Blizzards can occur in any region of the world which is subject to snow. They are most frequent at high latitudes where very cold weather is frequent.

The Blizzard of 1888 When the storm hit New York City, the temperature was mild. As it started to rain, the rain changed to heavy snow and it covered the whole city. The wind speed reached over 8000 miles per hour! Many cities were also hit by this blizzard but New York City was hit hardest of all. 600 people lost their lives. An estimated $25 billion was caused in property.

How do you know when a blizzard is coming Usually, before a blizzard, there are always heavy storms, violent winds and especially when the temperature drops to a very low temperature. Another sign is, when it starts to snow frequently.

How to be prepared blizzard? Tune in to the weather forecast to make sure that a blizzard is really coming. When you’re at home, you need to have plenty of supplies such as flash lights, phone and medicine. SUPPLY LOTS OF FOOD AND WATER. Make sure you have a warm clothing.

What to do when you are trapped in a blizzard? (e.g. stuck in a car) When you have to go out during a blizzard, make sure to bring survival kit such as cell phone, plenty of food and water. Don’t open the windows, the snow might come in the car. ALWAYS STAY CALM TRY TO STAY INSIDE HOME
