Water use in California Where does the water come from in major cities? Where does the water come from for agriculture? How are these two conflicting?

How are these conflicting? The Klamath River, which originates in Oregon It flows into the Northern part of California It was a violent conflict in the spring of 2001 The Klamath River 

Background information! Water resource issues in California involve both water supply and water pollution. The first investigation of California's water resources began in 1873 Northern California's water crisis continues to grow.

Where does the water come from for the major cities? San Joaquin Sacramento river valleys Rivers Precipitation runoffs

Where does the water come from for the major cities? ground water and snow melt provides water sources. Snow melts into the water supply certain times of the year.

Where does the water come from for the major cities? Sacramento gets its water from: Surface water (85%) Ground water (15%)

Where does agriculture get its water? Surface water -Rivers, streams, and irrigation ditches -Rainwater -Open canals

Where does agriculture get its water? Groundwater from wells Impounded water such as ponds, reservoirs, and lakes

Where does agriculture get its water? Locally collected water such as cisterns and rain barrels Municipal water systems such as city and rural water can also be used for agricultural purposes.

CONCLUSION Water use in California The history of California water sources Where does water come from major cities in northern part of California Where does agriculture gets its water from
