Alternative Energy World Geography Spring 2011

Energy Resources Fossil Fuels (oil, coal, natural gas) are considered non-renewable resources. Eventually, they will run out. Assuming our demand does not change, new sources of energy will need to be found and implemented. ▫In fact, demand is expected to increase due to population growth and the modernization of developing countries.

World Energy Reserves

Alternative Energy Alternative energy refers to energy sources that have fewer undesired consequences than fossil fuels (oil, coal, gasoline) do. They are also renewable and considered “free.” Examples include wind, solar and hydropower.

Presentation You and your partner(s) will be researching one type of alternative energy. You will create a presentation using PowerPoint, Google Slides or Notebook. You may use any of the information found on my website, as well as clip art. ▫Schools.clipart.com  Name and password are nems ▫Include citations for any pictures you use

Requirements In your presentation, you must include: ▫An explanation of how your type of energy works ▫How it is renewed? Where does the energy come from? ▫Positives: why would this be good to use? ▫Negatives: what would be problems with using this type of energy? You will be showing your presentation to your classmates. Make sure it is complete and easy to understand
