This theory basically states that “intrinsic factors are related to job satisfaction, and extrinsic factors are related to job dissatisfaction”

An intrinsic factor is basically what is inside of you, or your personal values. For example, the feeling of encouragement, and professional growth can result from doing work that corresponds with your values.

Extrinsic factors are external factors, such as pay and working conditions. Such factors are usually responsible for job dissatisfaction.

This theory was introduced by Frederick Herzberg, a psychologist who believed that success or failure can be determined by none other than the individual's attitude towards his/her work. After surveying a number of people about their jobs, Hertzberg developed his theory.

Hygiene factors : Factors such as working conditions and salary that, when adequate, can eliminate job dissatisfaction, but do not necessarily increase satisfaction. Motivators : Factors such as recognition and growth that increase job satisfaction.
