Volume AIMS Math Review Spring, 2008

Period 1 Find the volume.. Math’s important for child development.

Period 1 ANSWERS Find the volume.. 5*5*  *15 = 375  cubic feet or cubic feet

Period 2 A company manufactures large dice for children's games. The dice are cubes with one side measuring 1.2 inch in length. The dice are formed when a liquid plastic in is poured into a mold of the die. The company uses trays that contain one dozen die molds in each tray. If the liquid plastic is measured in cubic inches, how much liquid plastic is needed to fill one tray? You can do the math!

Period 2 ANSWERS A company manufactures large dice for children's games. 1.2 * 1.2 * 1.2 (for each die) * 12 (for 1 tray) = cubic inches

Period 3 Soda is sold in aluminum cans that measure 6 inches in height and 2 inches in diameter. How many cubic inches of soda are contained in a full can? Math is nearly as great as English.

Period 3 ANSWERS Soda is sold in aluminum cans that measure 6 inches in height and 2 inches in diameter. How many cubic inches of soda are contained in a full can? 1 * 1 * 3.14 * 6 = cubic inches

Period 4 All careers need math!

Period 4 ANSWERS 4x5x10 vs. 3*3  *8 vs. ½ 4/3  5*5*5 200vs vs Mom’s Place has the greatest volume.

Period 5 Find the volume You need the math!

Period 5 ANSWERS Find the volume V = 4 2  *10 =160  cubic cm V = 1/3 (10 2 )*8 = 800/3 cubic units

Period 6 Find the volume of each figure Business requires math.

Period 6 ANSWERS Find the volume of each figure V = ½ (3)(4)(2) = 12 cubic inches V = 1/3 (24.6/2  ) 2 *5 = 24.6 cubic ft
