Informational Interview by Phylicia Currence

Summary I interviewed my dance teacher, Janel Joyner who also majored in psychology and works under a medical doctor. It's interesting that both of her jobs embody my interest. I love to dance and have been doing so my whole life, in addition to me also being a psychology major.

Typical Day in the Office Unfortunately, Ms. Janel shared with me that she does a lot of paperwork. She keeps track of clients medical history along with their progress over time. She has the opportunity to perform pre assessment before clients meet with their psychologists.

What I Learned Ms. Janel also attended Carolina so she shared her view of the psychology program here and how it got more difficult during the last 2 years.

Pieces of Advice If you want to go to graduate school try to go right after undergrad if possible! The momentum you have is one that a lot of people don't get back. Do an internship or a summer program that is interesting and fun. Since there are so many psychology majors you will need something to set you apart from everyone else.
