The Waterloo Bridge is located in river Thames London-England, UK. The South End of the bridge is in the area known as South Bank. That area includes Royal Festival Hall, Waterloo Station, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal National Theatre, and the National Film Theatre (directly beneath the bridge).

The First Waterloo Bridge was designed in It was finished 1817, although before the bridge was opened it was called the Strand Bridge. It was opened by the Prince Regent. At first it was a toll bridge as you would pay to go over but then in 1877 the bridge was made toll free.

The Waterloo Bridge was closed to traffic on the 11 th of May 1924 as it was no longer safe. The go ahead was given for the new bridge in The Bridge was partially opened to traffic in 1942 although it was not fully opened until December, Some of the Pillars in the ground are still there to this date. When the bridge was getting built, World War 2 had began so all the men were away at War so the Ladies had to finish the bridge.

The second bridge was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and the bridge only had 4 arches. It is constructed of reinforced concrete with facings of Portland stone and grey Cornish granite, the granite being recut from the masonry of the old bridge

The second bridge was a total length 375 meters [1,230 ft]with a width of 24 meters [80 ft]
