¡Ahora el cocinero eres tú! Now it is your turn to put your Spanish skills and creativity to the test as you work to create your own Spanish cooking video! In groups of 3, work together to research the cuisine of a Spanish speaking country (approved by the teacher) and then choose a dish typical of that country that you would like to make and share with the class.
Procedure After you have researched the gastronomy of your country and picked a recipe, work together to create a script (in Spanish) to guide you as you make your cooking video. – Make sure that you include relevant vocabulary words. – Correct grammar is essential.
The Video After you have planned out your script and gathered materials, meet with your group members and let the magic begin! Record yourselves preparing your signature dish as if you were on a cooking show episode. – Make sure to explain the origin and significance of the dish to the culture as well as the ingredients and steps that it takes to make it. – Be as detailed as possible.
Video Requirements Your cooking show episode must be… – At least five minutes in length – Spoken entirely in Spanish – All group members must speak for at least one minute. – The history and significance of the dish must be explained. – The ingredients must be listed. – The step by step procedure to prepare the dish must be explained.
FIESTA After preparing your cooking episodes, bring them and your completed dishes into class to share con todos. We will have a cooking show viewing party to learn about authentic dishes from around the world and enjoy some good food with friends! Prepare to rate both your and your peers’ videos based upon a rubric provided by the teacher.
Why are we doing this? ¿Para qué, profesora? By the end of this lesson you should be able to… – Use the internet to research the gastronomy of a Spanish speaking country. – Identify a recipe typical of your country of choice. – Collaborate and write a cooking show script in Spanish. – Shoot and edit a video. – Prepare an authentic dish. – Describe how to create an authentic dish in Spanish using correct grammar and appropriate vocabulary.
