To understand diseases of the joint, we need to look at normal healthy joint. Joints are held together by joint capsule that is designed to allow smooth movement between adjacent bones.
The bone ends are covered by the cartilage over which the joint moves. A synovial membrane which encloses the joint space secretes synovial fluid.
