Bridging Projects Designed to assist unemployed learners (NQF levels 4 – 8) and bridge the gap between theoretical learning and workplace experience In July 2015, Fasset approved 20 new projects to the value of R 249.1m for 2016/17 and 6050 learners stand to benefit. A further R 26m is available for this funding window. Fasset approved 18 new projects to the value of R 127m for 2015/16 and 3009 learners stand to benefit. TVET Learners Workplace-based Experience Project Fasset Update The Department of Higher Education and Training identified the need to capacitate public TVET Colleges, to become the preferred providers of occupational skills, as relevant, in South Africa. This need was identified to address the high unemployment rate amongst the age group 16 – 34. Fasset is implementing a project aimed at facilitating and funding workplace-based experience for graduates from public TVET Colleges in the 2015/2016 financial year. A standard monthly stipend and travel allowance is funded for the placement of learners at employers from the Fasset sector for the full 18 months.
