MacGregor State School E-Learning Laptop Program 2016

Rationale We have a mandate to connect and digital users to learning in a digital world. Students are Digital users Immersed in a digital culture Developing digital literacy Use devices to connect socially. (Computers, Game consoles, Tablets, Mobile Phones) Communicate online - , and messaging, and chat. (Facebook, twitter etc)

Educators Need to Respond to How Students Learn. What direction will our 21 st Century learning take? How will classrooms embrace ICT’s to improve student learning? What advantage is there in using computers in areas of the curriculum? How to accommodate the change of technology? Find ways to provide access to knowledge that is current, global and increasing in volume.

One to One Laptop Programs - Benefits Emphasis on Individual Student Learning. Motivates Students - take greater pride and ownership over what they create. Creating and designing digital products in real life tasks. Research - Access to a range of online learning resources. Active inquiry based learning – explore tasks, critical thinking informed decision making and negotiation of curriculum tasks. Communication - Interact with the local and wider community. Multi-sensory stimulation. Developing responsible values and safe practices. ICT Proficiency - Using and Operating digital technologies - Develops discipline and management skills.

Implementation Two Year 4 Classes,, Fill vacancies in existing Year 5, 6 classes Hire Resource Scheme – $1600 – hire the resource package. Closed Tender for the laptop for $20 inc GST at the end of program. Time Line October – Parent Meeting 16 th October – Expressions of Interest 23 rd October – EOI finalised – offer ed $200 deposit confirm place. 30 th October - Terms Conditions, EQ Participation Agreement, Closed tender Due 7 th November– Payment of $1600 to be made to school October – Laptops ordered through Ed QLD – PurchaseIT from Dell November - Laptops to be delivered to school. Laptops processed Early December – with date and time to pickup laptop
