BOSTON TEA PARTY

East India Company 1. The east India Tea Company was critical to the British economy. 2.Britain’s East India Co. was going broke. 3.The colonists were boycotting British tea.

Tea Act (1773) 1.The law allowed the East India Company to lower the tax on tea. 2.The colonists were still mad because they wanted to pay no tax. 3.Colonists boycotted their tea.

More Protests! 1.The colonists were angry. 2.They still felt that the tax on tea was unfair.

Boston Tea Party 1.3 ships full of tea docked in Boston chests of tea weighing 92 thousand pounds (almost 46 tons) were thrown overboard. 3.In today’s money, that would equal 1.7 million dollars

Punishment 1.King George was losing control. 2.He decided to punish Massachusetts. 3.The Intolerable Acts were passed.
