17-Oct-11 Public/Private Sector Co-operation in Action

17-oct-11 The Form Simply put, Organizational control is the process of assigning, evaluating & regulating the various resources on an ongoing bases to accomplish an organizations or Associations goal Control can be defined as narrowly as the process MANAGEMENT takes to assure that the actual Performance conforms, OR – more broadly as anything that coordinates the process or activity of an ORGANIZATION and Association

17-oct-11 Concepts –Core concepts of collaboration clearly lies in the division of responsibility in order to drive - tourism. –Private sector responsibility can be upheld through self-regulation, in co-operation and with the guidance of Associations. Although the associations themselves should not become governing bodies as this does not diminish the Status Quo, merely a shift. –Official Tourist Organizations can bare the regulation of the sector whilst in-keeping close relations with the Associations of which the “OTO” is a member of.

17-oct-11 Youth Travel & Movement CONTEXT – WYSE Travel Confederation represent 8 Sector Associations Our members include the following types of organizations: Adventure Tour Operators - Au Pair Agencies - Backpacker Companies – Cultural Exchange Programs – International Education - Language Schools & Agents -Student Insurance - Student Flights - Student Identity Cards – Work Abroad and Volunteering Programs - Youth & Student Travel Retailers – Youth Hostels - Booking Engines – Products and Services relating to the youth and student travel industry – Tourism Boards & Official Tourism Organizations. “Governmental Agencies place little importance to the socio-economic & microeconomic impact of youth on the move”

17-oct-11 Vested interest into growing the industry, and - In the HEALTH of the industry Standards & Quality of Business

17-oct-11 The Membership “An Association/Organizations Membership insures self-government” –The Power of Association (Peers) is greater then direct government! Self regulation through affiliation or disaffiliation through private sector body that empowers local businesses to strive for greater microeconomic impact Organizations/ Associations are governed by: 1.- Code Of Conduct 2.- Best Practice Regulations 3.- Self Governed Constitutions

17-oct-11 Self Governance Governments might tend to limit the growth of programs and apply them different in each country – Example - Cultural Exchange - Ms. Anna Danshina Work exchange really works! Anna, a former USA work & travel participant, now the Public Diplomacy Campaigns Manager at the British Embassy in Moscow. A great example of how programs like this can change a young person’s life.
