South Australia South Australia is a state in the southern central part of Australia. It covers some of the most arid parts of the continent a total land area - 983,482 sq.km it is the fourth largest of Australia's six states and two mainland territories.

Adelaide - is the capital city of South Australia -the fifth-largest city in Australia - According to the 2011 census, Adelaide has a population of 1.23 million.

Adelaide spouse of William IV of the United Kingdom Named in honour of Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, queen consort to King William IV. The city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for a freely settled British province in Australia.
