Step One Log-in at the top of the page by entering your Username and Password, then click “Log In” Log-in Here

Career Cruising Log-In Username is your LHS username with an fc- in front of it, for example – LHS Username – Career Cruising Username fc Password is the same as your LHS password without the exclamation point – LHS Password- Aa12345! – Career Cruising Password- Aa12345

Step Two Click on “Education”. Click Here

Step Three Click on “Undergraduate schools”. Click Here

Step four Begin survey and answer questions important to you. The more questions you answer the better your results. When complete click “View Results” Complete undergraduate school selector starting with “Type of School”

results Results will appear as a list, with the blue title as a link to learn more about the college, and allow you to save it to your account. List of Results

Save to plan Choose a minimum of three colleges you would consider and then save to your PLAN 1) Education 3) Skills Inventory 2) More Questions

Confirm saved Schools Click on “My Plan” in the upper left corner, and confirm under “My Saved Schools” that three are saved. We will walk around and double-check. 1) Education 3) Skills Inventory 2) More Questions Save six careers Click “My Plan” and then check “My Saved schools”

Investigate Schools that Interest You!  Compile a list of schools that you may be interested in  Visit school websites  Set up visits to schools that you are serious about applying to  Be aware of admissions requirements and begin to narrow your choices  Never put all of your eggs in one basket. Plan on applying to a small group of schools that you would like to attend

College Visitations The best way to get to know more about a school and get a “feel” for what it would be like to attend is to visit.  LHS Juniors and Seniors are permitted to take 4 days to visit colleges (permission slip required prior to visiting).  When visiting a college it is recommended that you contact the admissions office and arrange to attend the information session and take a student guided campus tour.  Ask questions

What are Colleges Looking For? When applications reach the admissions department for review the following are the top areas of importance.  GPA  Standardized Testing  Academic Rigor  Extracurricular Activities – Athletics, School Clubs, Volunteer Work  Leadership Positions  Teacher Recommendation (If required)  Counselor Recommendation (If required)

Financing College  Hope Scholarship  College Scholarships  Local Scholarships  National Merit Scholarships  Government Financial Aid – Loans, Grants

HOPE & Zell Miller HOPE 3.0 Core GPA as calculated by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA in College. Zell Miller Scholar Program Students must graduate with a 3.7 GPA as calculated by the Georgia Student Finance Commission and have a 1200 SAT (math & critical reading) or a 26 on the ACT. HOPE Rigor Requirements  Beginning with the Class of 2015, there are HOPE Rigor Requirements for both the HOPE Scholarship and Zell Miller Scholarship. Due to the continued updates made to the HOPE Scholarship, it is in the student’s/family’s best interest to consult directly with Georgia Student Finance Commission. They are the organization that issues, approves, and sets the standards for the scholarship, therefore they can most accurately define the qualifications. To Be Eligible for the HOPE Scholarship, and in Addition to Grade Point Average and Other Requirements : Students Graduating after May 1, 2015 Must Have 2 Academically rigorous courses as defined by GSFC* Students Graduating after May 1, 2016 Must Have 3 Academically rigorous courses as defined by GSFC* Students Graduating after May 1, 2017 Must Have 4 Academically rigorous courses as defined by GSFC* * Please see complete list of eligible courses at

Social Media & College Admissions

Athletes - NCAA Students interested in playing college athletics must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.  Students must register once their junior year courses and grades are available on their transcript  Submit the application at The NCAA Eligibility CenterThe NCAA Eligibility Center  Submit an official high school transcript and official SAT/ACT scores
