History of Citizenship? At the end of the nineteenth century, psychologist William James argued that: “in the absence of military combat, young me required a ‘moral equivalent of war’ as an outlet for their energies’, to provide them with discipline and responsibilities” The 1990s have seen a strangely familiar wave of concern about whether young people are learning right from wrong.

What is Citizenship education? Citizenship education is relatively new subject area. Statutory part of the National Curriculum in Key Stages 3 & 4 since 2002 Students study issues dealing with; The Law, Human Rights, Politics, The Media and Global and European Issues. Students not only have to obtain a knowledge and understanding of these areas but are expected to participate in these areas.
