Scavengers and Decomposers Grade 7 Science

Goal  I can… explain the importance of scavengers and decomposers within an ecosystem.

I can… explain the importance of scavengers and decomposers within an ecosystem.  Scavengers are consumers who normally feed off the remains of living things that are killed by other consumers.

I can… explain the importance of scavengers and decomposers within an ecosystem.  Examples:

I can… explain the importance of scavengers and decomposers within an ecosystem.  Decomposers are consumer that break down (decompose) animal wastes, dead plants, and animals.

I can… explain the importance of scavengers and decomposers within an ecosystem.  Some examples of decomposers:

Earthworm

Fungi (Mushrooms or mould)

Bacteria

Here’s a little video to explain in more details… 

I can… explain the importance of scavengers and decomposers within an ecosystem. Time for some research!

Explain how decomposers are involved in one of the following 1. Making Cheese 2. Making Vinegar 3. Mining 4. Cleaning Oil Spills
