What is the Human Gut Microbiome? Group Presentation Directions

1.Find a current magazine article* about the human gut microbiome. 2.Read the article with your group members so that 1) everyone has a clear understanding and 2) everyone can have input. 3.As a group, develop an article summary that touches on all key points and details in the article. 4.Create a PowerPoint presentation that explains the human gut microbiome; use the article as the foundation of your presentation. *Articles may be printed or online; however, high school level work requires high school level resources. Examples include National Geographic, Scientific American, Discover, etc. Articles must be feature length in order to contain the amount of information appropriate for your level of work. Requirements, etc., next slide

Requirements, etc… Mrs. Vottero will make copies of your articles for you, if you ask nicely. Only make what you NEED. Provide Mr. Ross with a copy of your group’s article(s). If it is an online magazine me the link(s). Only use paper when it’s necessary. The only words permitted on your PPT are slide titles. Use meaningful pictures as your cheat sheet to guide you through your presentation. Also, no notes during presentations; use your PPT instead. Include an accurate, complete ecosystem pyramid that reflects the situation in your gut. If an article doesn’t lend itself to making a pyramid find another article. Save your presentation to the school network and be ready to present first on Monday. Swap contact info with your teammates and plan accordingly if you need to work together over the weekend. I encourage you to NOT limit your resources to one magazine article—you may find useful videos online. Your task is to explain the human gut microbiome, not to summarize an article. The more resources you have the better your understanding will be and, therefore, the better your presentation will be.
