Themes Discuss the theme of manipulation prevalent throughout the novel. Come up with specific examples from various sections of the book. Discuss the theme of isolation as well. Converse about specific examples from various sections of the book. How are these two themes intertwined? Discuss the good vs. evil motif as well as the game vs. reality motif. Provide specific examples from various sections of the book in your discussion.

Characters Discuss the similarities and differences between Ender and Peter, providing specific examples from the text in your discussion. Confer about Ender’s relationship with Valentine. How does it differ from Ender’s relationships with others? Ender’s first true friendship at Battle School is formed with whom? Discuss their relationship and how Graff feels about it. Discuss the alternate identities of Peter and Valentine. Which makes a greater impact? How does Ender become more like Graff when promoted to commander?
