OBJECTIVES Use of 3D tools to demonstrate some of radiographic techniques. Offer this tool for enhancing mental rotation for students.

INTRODUCTION PROBLEMATIC 3d iconography is solving many problems of comprehension in anatomy and many other sciences which need mental rotation.* In our case, radiographic techniques of the hip requires mental rotation to understand the position of the articulation, and the angle’s of incidence. * N. Hoyek, C. Collet, O. Rastello, P. Fargier, P. Thiriet & A. Guillot (2009). Enhancement of Mental Rotation Abilities and its Effect on Anatomy Learning; Teaching and Learning in Medicine, 21(3),

INTRODUCTION PROBLEMATIC This is the classic method to demonstrate radiographic technique of one hip’s incidence (uretral incidence), using photography and schema.

Firstly, we have used «MakeHuman RC1» to model the human body with the corresponding position of articulations. MATERIALS AND METHODES

Secondly we added a red arrow to the X Ray and a film cassette blue colored. This step was established with another 3D software “MAYA”. With the same software we have produced 3D videos. Some annotations were added with “GIMP” MATERIALS AND METHODES

Six radiographic incidences have been produced that seem more understandable in spite of their complexity. 3d animations were presented to students who rated their attractiveness and their help in understanding the incidences. RESULTS

CONCLUSION 3D iconogaphy occupies more space by various educational fields. This is the result of the diversity and accessibility of softwares, especially in free version.
