Biology By_Sarah O’Toole

Biology First Semester During the first report period in Biology, we were learning about the Characteristics of a living things. There were 5 standards they had to meet 1.All living things are made of cells 2.All living things use and produce energy 3.All living this reproduce 4.Living things adapt to their environment 5.They are made up of DNA

Out Side Readings In biology we are responsible for doing a book summary every 6 weeks. They book must be approved by the teacher. It must have something to do with, and it must be at your reading level. Specifically in my Bio. Class they final copy of the summary must be either hand written in blue or black ink, or typed on the computer. (one page)

Lab Safety On days A & C I have a double period of Biology. The first period is usually used to explain the lab and go over the procedure. Then the remaining time in the first period and the second period are used to complete the lab. About 4 labs out of the whole year, we are required to complete a “pre-lab” or a lab report. This is when we copy the exact producers, materials, Analyze and conclusion questions and Objection from the lab book. This is hand written in blue or black ink. (Only to be worked on in class.)

Second Semester So far this semester we have studied Photosynthesis and Mitosis. We learned the 4 phases of Mitosis, and then the ending step which is Cytokenesis.

My favorite thing about biology I took bio this year because I had the impression that it was going to deal a lot more more with animals. But it actually it explains what makes living possible. It breaks everything down, like why cells divide and what makes us different from animals. But over all I like the labs, because it takes everything we learned and put it in a visual.
