 Each week, graded work will be sent home in the Daily Folder.  Important notes from the office and teacher will often be included with their work.  Behavior will be noted daily. No news is good news!  Please check your child’s folder daily and return.

 Our home reading program gives the children an opportunity to develop a true love of reading. We encourage students to read minuets each night.  Each week your child will bring home 1-2 books from our literacy library.  These books should be read nightly as they take just a few minutes to read.  Books must be returned weekly. They are considered part of our curriculum and there will be a small fee if they are lost or not returned.

 Our units range from 5 to 17 days depending on the skill being taught.  Assessments will be given at the end of each unit. Homework is important because it is a valuable aide in helping students make the most of their experience in school.  Homework will always cover what is taught in class.  Homework may not be daily, but when it is given will be due the following day.  Homework is recorded as a completion check.

 Teacher Observations  Sight Words  Sound Checks/Spelling Words  On level reading comprehension  Fluency  Math: end of unit assessments

Standards Based Report Cards  Students will receive marks that show if they have mastered a set of age–appropriate skills and where they need to improve.  This will be denoted with the score of a 4, 3, 2, or 1. 4: Consistently Above Standard 3: Meets the Standard 2: Progressing Towards Standard 1: Making Minimum Progress Towards Standard
