Times You Need to Know The first morning bell rings at 7:40. Students are able to enter the class room at this time. The tardy bell rings at 7:50. Students are expected to be seated and ready to learn by this time. Fine Arts classes are from 10:15-11:00. Your homeroom teacher will have a schedule for fine arts. Lunch and recess are from 12:30 – 1:30. Dismissal is at 2:50. Students will be engaged in curriculum rotations the remaining hours of the day. The computer labs will be open every morning before school for students to complete Fasttmath Lessons.

Our Schedule 7:50 – 8:45 – Homeroom and writing workshop 8:45 – 10:15 – First Curriculum Rotation 10:15 – 11:00 – Fine Arts 11:00 – 12:30 – Second Curriculum Rotation 12:30 – 1:30 – Lunch/Recess 1:30 – 2:50 – Third Curriculum Rotation

Snacks Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack to have at 10:00 each day. We ask that the snack be easy to eat and one that does not require a lot of “work”, as this will be a working snack. We would ask that students refrain from bringing water bottles to leave on their desk, or in the lockers. Our teachers are very flexible and if a student is in need of a drink we will allow them to go to the water fountain.

Absences and Tardies It is important that students be at school each day. We have a tremendous amount of curriculum to cover in fourth grade. If your child has an excused absence we will work with them/you to make sure all necessary assignments are made up. School starts promptly at 7:50. If your child is tardy, they are already starting off behind. Please make every effort ensure your child is on time to class.

Important Dates STAAR TESTING DATES STAAR Writing - April 2 nd & 3rd STAAR Math - April 23rd STAAR Reading – April 24th LISDOLA – October 9 (Navy) & 10 (Silver) Swimming – February 12 th – 14 th (Navy), or 19 th – 21 st (Silver)

Citizenship and Study Skills Expectations Every student will receive a study skills and citizenship expectations card every six weeks. They will keep this in their binder, and take with them to all of the rotations. If students come unprepared for class, or do not exhibit the expected citizenship behaviors they will get their card signed. You will be expected to sign this card Tuesday. This will ensure that we can communicate regularly. At the end of every six weeks we will have a rewards afternoon for students who haven’t had the calendar signed or have had less than a certain number of infractions. Each six weeks will hold a different reward.

Citizenship and Study Skills Goals Citizenship GoalsStudy Skill Goals 1. I will be nice to everyone. A. I will complete my work on time. 2. I will respect all property. B. I will be prepared for class. (supplies) 3. I will talk when appropriate. C. I will listen attentively. 4. I will not be disruptive. D. I will use my time wisely. 5. I will follow directions. E. I will have my summary card signed and returned every Monday.

Homework and Late Work All fourth graders will be expected to complete a minimum of 4 Fasttmath lessons during the school week. All students will be expected to complete any unfinished work from the school day and have ready for the next school day. If a student turns in an assignment late they will automatically loose 11 points from the assignment. If we find there is a habit of late work or missing homework we will communicate with you, and set a plan in place to help your student with the issue.

Tutoring Tutoring is an academic program where we will work with students who are struggling with curriculum concepts. We will be assessing every student within the first six weeks to determine strengths and weaknesses. We will begin to build our tutoring programs based on the findings from these assessments. Tutoring programs will change throughout the year based on student need as we will continually be assessing and monitoring student growth and needs. If your child is in need of tutoring we will be contacting you regarding dates and times.

Planners and Book Covers Each student will need to purchase a planner for the school year. Forms are available in your child’s homeroom class. All students will need to bring in 5 jumbo book covers (made of stretchy material). These can be purchased at office supply stores, but may also be found at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and the Dollar Tree here in Flower Mound.

Teacher Communication Sarah Littlefield – Nicholl McCue – Cathy Schuelke – Karen Storrie – Cassie Weaver – Clay Wilkinson – All teachers may also be reached by calling the school office at You will be directed to leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
