Henry’s Map

Observing some of my own contextual influences, I can better understand who I am: Because of my Grandparent’s influence, I am selfless and love giving back to the community Knowledge of different religions because of my Catholic high school background, which always contributed to my current beliefs as an agnostic Because of my parents’ influence, I love TV and movies. Cultured as a city kid, so I love to be in huge metropolitan cities Long tradition as a San Franciscan, so I am a sixth generation SF City dweller Dad is a pilot, but I hate airplanes

My mom and I would love to watch sci-fi movies, so I love astronomy and anything new in technology Since I am gay, and grew up in a family that wasn’t super accepting, I am very interested in politics and civil rights for the people around me that I love My family is very interested in the well-being of others, my dad is on many charity committees and my grandpa was as well, which is why I feel such a desire to give back to the community

Assignment and Reflection Using my map as an example, create your own map Then write down 10 conclusions you can draw from your map Lastly, write down some reflections from creating your map, answering the following: What themes or arguments can you derive from connections you found? How do these connections explain your identity within a cultural and social context? This assignment is due by Monday, October 19 th by 11:59pm (to your blog)

Reflections Upon reviewing my influences, I have found that traveling and the car for other people in the world are really major driving influences in my life. I strive to make myself available for others, and want to make sure that they’re doing OK in the situation that they are in. These particular connections show that I am an explorer, someone who always wants to find out more about the world and advocate for the people that I love
