Presentation transcript:

What do wind turbines do?  Wind turbine transform wind into energy this happens by the movement in the blades.  As the blades move the energy moves down the power line at the back of the turbine.

Windmills….  Wind mills were invented to grind flour and wheat, these days wind mills are not used that often.  farmers usually are the only people who still use these and this is not very often.

Wind turbines…  Wind turbines are powered by the wind and are growing more and more popular.  These turbines generate enough energy for 10 houses these turbines are dotted around the county.

How wind turbines work  Wind turbines are powered buy the wind. as the wind moves the blades the movement makes electricity this powers homes and protects the environment.

Advantages of wind turbines…  The advantages of of wind turbines are that they do not contribute to global warning.  Low maintenance costs  Can be located in remote areas.

Disadvantages of wind turbines..  This disadvantages of these wind turbines don’t look nice (visual Pollution)  Can produce noise in the vicinity  Can kill birds as they fly into them.

Wind turbines in Saddleworth  Saddle worth (Oldham,UK) is the latest problem of the wind turbine industry, most of the people do not want these turbines around the nice area.  Can affect prices of the houses  Can affect the natural beauty of the moors.  Can damage the bird life.
