 Our goal in this project was to build a “motor” that can lift a 1kg mass to a height of 1 meter in 10 seconds.  Out total expense did not exceed 20 dollars. (compressed cardboard, billiard balls, bucket, automotive funnel, vinyl guttering)

 We began our series of motion by removing the pen holding the swinging ball in place.  The swinging ball then hits the rotating wrench which swings down and sets the rolling ball in motion along our gutter system.  The ball rolls down the gutters and knocks the water bottle over.  The water pours into the bucket that is attached to the pulley and the 1 kg mass. The weight of the water lifts the mass.

 We met 4 times for this project and we spent almost 4 hours each meeting.  Problems we encountered: › Repositioning the whole project so that the bucket will go down a full meter. › Reaching the ten second time goal › Stopping pool balls once in motion › … the list goes on…  It was good to finally use all the EF 151 equations in the real world!!
