Welcome to Raleigh! 2010 National Air Quality Conferences

I am REALLY excited!  As a native North Carolinian, allow me to welcome you to our state capital!  Not only was AIRNow born here, but so was I, just 30 miles up US401.

I thought this moment would never come…  We waited 11 years for a venue large enough  This is perhaps the most exciting moment since Christmas 1975, when I got Rock’em Sock’em robots

Many changes since last year  US system is now running AIRNow-I core components  An overhaul of the system architecture including new mapping and data software  A new layout for AIRNow.gov  Several new web services  EnviroFlash upgrades

A few announcements…and a few quotations  Housekeeping  Please silence electronic devices  Restrooms around the corner on either side  Thank you sponsors!  “Scout” out some tasty food at the breaks  Visit the exhibits

A few more announcements  Thank you Planning Committee!  George Bridgers and Tom Mather, NC DENR  Your homework:  The famous AIRNow T-Shirt Raffle – drop a card in the box  On-line conference evaluation  Anxiously await the presentations appearing on AIRNow.gov

A few more announcements  For our international partners – 3:30pm session  Reception tonight at 5:30pm  Don’t “blow” your chance to socialize with 300 of your closest friends.

AIRNow-International  Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center (SEMC) is using AIRNow- International as we speak  Will be an important tool for the Shanghai World Expo, beginning in May  A major focus of the US Group on Earth Observations (GEO)  Exploring an AIRNow-I pilot in Mexico
