Who Rocks Your World? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Do Now 9/12/13 1.In your bell work section, write a brief paragraph to describe your favorite music artist and explain why they hold that title. 2.Write a guess as to what these musical artists all have in common.

The Top Music Artist ▪Determine an artist who meets class-created criteria for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ▪Create research questions to support your opinion that he or she should be inducted ▪Conduct research ▪Draft a persuasive letter ▪Revise a persuasive letter ▪Prepare a persuasive presentation to convince the Hall of Fame Board of Directors and review committee to induct this artist

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Criteria Has released a record at least 25 years prior to induction Demonstrated unquestionable musical excellence Significant influences on other artists Length and depth of career Superior style/technique

Class Criteria ▪Must be inspiring ▪ Number 1 hits ▪ morally-sound person/band ▪ has to have been on the radio ▪ has to have gone on tour at least three times ▪ has to write their own music ▪ produced at least five albums

Your Task—By the End of Class Each of you received one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s current inductee’s biographies. 1.Read the article. 2.Highlight all details connected to our class’s induction criteria. 3.Write a paragraph to explain whether the inductee still deserves his or her spot based on our criteria. Paragraph should include: 1.Topic sentence sharing your opinion on induction status 2.Three supporting sentences with details from your article 3.A closing sentence restating why the inductee is deserving
