Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five By Tim Spalding

About The Group Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five contains 6 members , Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Kid Creole, Cowboy, Scorpio and Rahiem. The group dibanded in 1984 but then later reformed in 1987 but then permanently disbanded in 1989 after ‘Cowboy’ died of his addiction to crack. They were inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame in 2007 becoming the first hip-hop band/Artist to be inducted. They were one of the first, and most influential, hip-hop groups. The Group Formed In South Bronx in New York in 1978

About The Music They Released their first single titled ‘supperrappin’ in 1979 under Enjoy Records Their first song under sugarhill records titled ‘Freedom’ enters the R&B charts peaking at number 19 The Group releases their most famous song ‘The Message’ in 1982 They Released two albums - The Message - On the Strength They only started recording music after the success of the Sugarhill Gangs Rappers Delight became so popular, proving that hip-hop could reach mainstream

Impacts/Influences Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five were basically the pioneers of hip-hop influencing many other ‘old school’ rappers and modern day rappers. They had huge impacts on the world by rapping about things that were happening around them, some songs that display this are The Message and White Lines.
