Presentation transcript:

Problem Statement Wasted time and effort in retrieving pucks after shooting them into the hockey net. Other sports like basketball have retrieval systems to help aid in the practice of the sport. Solution: a four component system that will return a hockey puck back to the user after a shot.

Problem Statement Deliver the puck to the user safely and should not jam in the delivery system Able to withstand the impact of a high speed slap shot. Must fit inside of a standard hockey goal.

Goals Efficient in returning pucks back to the user Affordable and safe Robust and durable

Design Partition Four subsections: –Puck collector –Bumper –Activation –Return Mechanism

Puck Collector The purpose of the puck collector is to bring the puck to a central location inside the goal for easier return. The device must consistently bring each puck to the same location with each operation.

Bumper The purpose of the bumper is to slow down floor shots and to guide them into the collector. It could be an inclined ramp shape to send the puck up and into the back of the net.

Activation The activation device must trigger the return mechanism shortly after the puck enters the goal. It could be remotely activated or could use automatic operation.

Return Mechanism The return mechanism must consistently return the puck to roughly the same location on the ice. It will require quick acceleration in order to produce enough force to move the puck far enough away from the goal. After returning the puck, it needs to be able to reset to prepare for the next puck.
