3 The Fickle Crowd  Large crowd gathered because of signs  Jesus wanted time alone with disciples  Important things happen on mountains  Passover mentioned is significant  Crowd may consist of traveling pilgrims  Significance of deliverance from Egypt Love, a Little, and a Lot of Leftovers John 6:1-15

4 The Faithless Disciples  Jesus has compassion on the crowd.  Jesus had a plan.  Phillip was asked where to buy bread.  Phillip’s answer focused on the cost.  Andrew’s report focused on how little.  The boy willingly gave what little he had. 5 The Fulfilling Dinner  No reprimand for disciples’ lack of faith  Instead, they are put to work.  Number of people: thousand!  Organized into groups of 50 and 100!  Jesus began by giving thanks. Love, a Little, and a Lot of Leftovers John 6:1-15

6 The Fulfilling Dinner  Broke bread in a continuous fashion.  Used the disciples to distribute.  People ate until they were full!  Gathered 12 baskets of leftovers. Why?  What an object lesson! Love, a Little, and a Lot of Leftovers John 6:1-15

7 The False Coronation  Crowd reminded of Moses and Manna.  “The Prophet” – Deuteronomy 18:15-19  Statement reveals their view of Messiah.  They wanted Jesus to be their provider.  Jesus never meets us on our terms!  He comes to us only on His terms! 8 Application Have you made Jesus King on His terms and not your own by:  mourning over your sin and repenting;  receiving His substitutionary death for you;  acknowledging Him as Sovereign and Lord of your life? Love, a Little, and a Lot of Leftovers John 6:1-15

9 Application Is your lack of action for the Kingdom focused on the cost or how little resources you have? Are you willing, like that boy, to give the little you have for God to do over and above what you expect? Love, a Little, and a Lot of Leftovers John 6:1-15
