Action in Richard Connell’s "The Most Dangerous Game" PRESENTATION BY: KANIRA WHITE, CAROLINA ANDRADE, KEVIN PARRA, AND JOSHUA MOONEY

Definitions  PLOT- the main events of a play, novel, movie, or similar work, devised and presented by the writer as an interrelated sequence.  CLIMAX- the most intense, exciting, or important point in the story.

Plot  Rainsford falls off the yatcht.  He finds the mansion.  He has dinner with General Zaroff and finds out that Zaroff hunts people.  Rainsford figures out he is about to be hunted.  While out getting hunted, Rainsford kills Zaroff’s sidekick, Ivan, and one of his dogs.  At one of the most desperate moments in his fight for survival, Rainsford finds himself in a pickle; he must decide whether to jump off the cliff of face Zaroff and his hounds.  Rainsford jumps and, by some miracle, survives.  He returns to the palace and kills the general.

Climax  The first climax is when Rainsford jumps off the cliff – the tension in the story is released as Rainsford plunges into the ocean.  The second and final climax is when Rainsford actually fights and ultimately kills Zaroff – the tension in the story is released after Zaroff’s death because the reader finds Rainsford sleeping in a most comfortable bed.
