Hopewell Middle School Per 2 Campus Procedures Hopewell Middle School Locker & Hallway Expectations

Morning Expectations Car riders - Enter through the Parent Pickup/Drop off Area Walkers and Bus Riders - Enter through the Bus Drop off area Entering the building: “Walk & talk” immediately to Cafeteria or Advisory. Electronics (including phone, tablet, earbuds, headsets) will be turned off & put away. Library – Request pass from Advisory teacher first, then “walk & talk” immediately to library. Cafeteria – After entering, students will remain in the cafeteria until released for 1st period.

Review-Morning Expectations What time does the building open? Do you have to enter at 7:50? Bus riders and walkers enter through the __________ and car riders enter through the ___________ of the building. What are the 2 choices students have when entering the building at 7:50? What should you do when in your Advisory class from 7:50-8:15? Where are your electronics once you enter the building?

Hallway Expectations Students will “walk and talk” during passing periods. Students will stay to the right side of the hallways & door ways. Electronics (including phone, tablet, earbuds, headsets) will be put away. Students are to remain in class the first & last 10 minutes of the period.

Review-Hallway Expectations How should one move in the hallway? What is your destination? What side of the hall should you walk on? If you want to talk to someone down the hall, what should you do? What should hallway conversation sound like? How should adults be treated in the hallway? How should students be treated? Where are your electronics when in the hallways? You need to be in class the first and last ___ minutes of class. Why?

Cafeteria Expectations Student will walk with their Advisory Teacher to the cafeteria. Students will line up outside the food line door in single file lines or sit down at a table. Students will have their HMS ID card visible. Students without their HMS ID card will line up at the end of the line.

Cafeteria Expectations Students will stay seated unless throwing trash away or requesting permission to use the restroom. Students will be dismissed by tables by the cafeteria monitor, and will exit through the garage doors. Electronics are allowed (no taking pictures or making videos) Lunch detention/reward in the classroom & Library – Student need a pass from the teacher to leave the cafeteria. Upper Commons – lunch with adult only at round tables

Review-Cafeteria Expectations What are your 2 options when you enter the cafeteria? What must you have in the lunch line? What happens if you do not have your ID? What should cafeteria conversation sound like? What should cafeteria movement look like? Can you use electronics during lunch? What must you do before being dismissed from your table?

Advisory 2015-2016

Shirts, Blouses, Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Vests, Jackets, Coats: No strapless tops, spaghetti-strap tops, racer back tops, backless, halters, large armholes, or off-the-shoulder tops No low necklines (which reveal cleavage) No see-through or mesh shirts, when shirt worn underneath does not meet this dress code Tops must meet the beltline, and must not reveal undergarments or skin 18

Sleeveless tops must be three adult fingers’ width in front and over to the back. See-through shirts and large arm holes are ok IF the undershirt is in dress code.

No clothing featuring pictures, emblems, writings, or slogans that are lewd, offensive risqué, vulgar, obscene, provocative, or that convey hate messages or racially, religiously, or ethnically demeaning message may be worn (including jewelry or accessories). No apparel or accessories shall depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs or any other dangerous, prohibited, or controlled substance No attire or grooming that identifies, condones, depicts, or promotes a student as part of an unauthorized group, such as a gang. No clothing or accessories that promote violence, weapons, bombs, illegal acts, or anything that could be construed as provocative or offensive or otherwise distract from the learning environment, as determined by the administrators. 20

Pants, Jeans: No clothing that is too tight such as spandex/lycra unless worn with a dress, skirt, or tunic (item over leggings must be at least at the top of the thigh) Shorts, skirts, and skorts must be at finger-tip or mid-thigh length as measured with relaxed shoulders. Dress code will be checked first period every day. Offenders will be given an opportunity to change clothes prior to calling parents for a change of clothes.

If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school. If not corrected, an appropriate consequence will be assigned, until the problem is corrected, or until a parent or designee brings an acceptable change of clothing to the school. Repeated offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. 26

The campus administrators/District have the interpretative authority as to what dress or grooming is inappropriate or disruptive at school or any time a student is representing Round Rock ISD.

Workrooms Adults only (please do not send student to pick up copies or use workroom appliances)

Electronics/Cell Phone Policy Electronics are to be off and put away from 7:50 until your leave the building after 3:30. Teachers may decide if you can use electronics in class for academic purposes. Students may use electronics during lunch. No use of social media, taking video or pictures allowed. Confiscated electronics will be turned into the front office and your parent must pick it up.

Afternoon/Dismissal Expectations All students will “walk & talk” to their exit door. Bus Riders will leave the building through the Bus area (Upper Commons/Fine Arts). Walkers will leave through the Fine Arts doors. Car Riders will leave through the Parent Pick-Up area (Lower Commons/Gym area).

Afternoon/Dismissal Expectations Electronics (including phone, tablet, earbuds, headsets) will be put away until you exit the building. After exiting the building, you may only re-enter with an adult. Tutorials after school Before: “Walk & Talk” to assigned classroom. After: “Walk & Talk” to school building exit.
