Ambient Light Sensor The ambient light sensor is something that can detect the brightness of the phone screen. This is helpful for if your eyes are hurting and you’re wondering why, if you check the brightness of your screen so you can adjust it.

GPS Receiver For all those who have cars or like to go on long walks, this sensor is perfect for you. This uses our satellites to receive a signal of your location which allows you to navigate of have some kind of knowledge of where you are. A situation where this sensor could come into play is if you are lost and you need to locate or navigate yourself.

Barometer The Barometer is a sensor that can detect where you are and lead you to the destination that you type into it. This is useful because whenever you need to travel and your car doesn’t have a satnav, your phone can be you navigator.

Microphone The microphone sensor is something that can detect your voice. This sensor is brilliant for a phone call because it allows other people to hear you. It’s great when you need to get on with everyday house work and your talking on the phone, you can talk on the phone’s loud speaker and the microphone can still pick up your voice.

Proximity Sensor This sensor is really useful when participating in a call. This detects how close or far away your ear is from the phone during a call. It is helpful if you can’t hear another person or they can’t hear you. You know weather you’d need to get closer or if it’s the fault of the other person you are on the phone to.

Gyroscope Gyroscope is very useful for when you need to turn your phone around. It will calculate what rotation your phone is at to whether it needs to follow the angle of the phone or stay the same in order for you to be able to see what you are doing on your phone.

Accelerometer The accelerometer informs you how fast a device is shook or tilted. If you are punching too hard or shaking it too hard then it will let you know so that you can learn from it.

Magnetometer This is great for if you have a metal detector application or a compass application because it calculates the magnetic field between your phone and metal.
