Series Discount and Single Discount Equivalents

Express a Series Discount as an Equivalent Single Discount:  Single Discount = 1 – Net Cost Equivalent  EX: Baltimore Wholesale Electric offers a 30/20 discount on wholesale purchases of all small appliances. What is the single discount equivalent?

To find net cost…  Multiply the list price by the complements of the single discounts in a series.  EX: Use the complements of the single discounts in a series to find the net cost of a kitchen work island. The list price is $3450 and the trade discount is 15/10/10.

Find the list price given the series discount and the net cost… Use the percent circle and find the BASE. (Use net cost equivalent as the RATE and net cost as the PART) After trade discounts of 10/30, the net cost of a 10-quart crock pot is $ Find the list price.
