Christmas By James

December 25th and January 7th The reason for this celebration is we celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25th and January 7th.

What food is eaten for this celebration? In the past my mom and dad ate crepes with garlic and feta cheese, roasted pork vegetables, roasted potatoes, cabbage rolls, and chocolate cake. Now we eat turkey, stuffing, scallop potatoes, cranberry sauce, roasted vegetables, apple pie and shortbread cookies.

What activities are involved with this celebration? In the past my mom went to midnight mass and spent time with my family. Now we go to church during the morning of January 7th.

What else is special about this celebration? In the past my mom wore new clothes to church. They didn’t exchange any gifts. They had a small artificial tree. Now I get presents on Christmas day, we go carolling with my neighbours and we make Christmas cookies. We sometimes buy a real tree to decorate.
