Safety Policy  The safety and health of our employees is our foremost business consideration. No employee will be required to do a job that he or she considers unsafe. We will comply with all applicable OSHA workplace safety and health requirements and maintain occupational safety and health standards that equal or exceed the best practices in the industry.

Safety Policy  We will conduct monthly safety meetings where we will discuss work place safety hazards and the preferred method of reducing the potential of injury or illness. Every employee has a responsibility to identify hazards and unsafe work practices. Managers have the responsibility of reducing hazards to employees and maintaining an injury-free workplace.

Safety Policy  We recognize that business owners, managers, and all other employees share responsibility for a safe and healthful workplace.  Owners are accountable for preventing workplace injuries and illnesses. Suggestions for achieving a safer, healthier workplace will be evaluated. The safety program will be regularly evaluated and adjusted as required to meet our situation.  Managers are responsible for supervising and training workers in safe work practices. Managers must enforce organization rules and ensure that employees follow safe practices during their work.  Employees are expected to participate in safety and health program activities including a) immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices, and accidents to supervisors or a safety committee representative, b) wearing required personal protective equipment, and c) participating in and supporting safety committee activities.

Safety Goals  Strive to achieve the goal of zero accidents and injuries.  Provide mechanical and physical safeguards wherever they are necessary.  Conduct routine safety and health inspections to find and eliminate unsafe working conditions, control health hazards, and comply with all applicable safety and health requirements.  Train all employees in safe work practices and procedures.  Provide employees with necessary personal protective equipment and train them to use and care for it properly.  Enforce organization safety and health rules and require employees to follow the rules as a condition of employment.  Investigate accidents to determine the cause and prevent similar accidents.

Safety Meeting  Safety meetings are schedule every 6 moths or whenever are needed  All employees will participate in the meeting, those that are absent will be briefed by the manager or assistant manager upon their return.  Topics will cover shop hazards, seasonal hazards, safe operating procedures and workplace safety inspections.

Hazard Communication Requirements  All employees have the right to know about the chemicals they are working with and exposed to.  Each location must have a list of chemicals used on site. Chemical Name, Pt Number, NFPA rating  Health __ Flammability__ Reactivity__ Other__  Each chemical’s MSDS must be readily available to employees upon request. Frequently this is available on line. Each store should be able access requested MSDS if an OSHA inspector requests, or needs arise.

Hazard Communication Requirements  Employee must be aware of the personal protective equipment requirements for the chemicals they use.  Both primary and secondary containers must be appropriately labeled with at least the name of what is in them.

Blood Borne Pathegens (BBP) or spill clean up  Cleaning up BBP requires Gloves, Eye Protection, absorbent materials, disinfectant, and appropriate disposal.  Chemical clean ups should be accomplished without mixing chemicals, and without spreading chemicals to yourself or other areas.  Identify the location of clean up materials and instructions to all employees.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  PPE is a barrier protection between you and potential hazards. It includes:  Appropriate footwear  Appropriate shirts and pants  Provided head protection as needed  Provided eye protection  Provided ear protection when required  Provided gloves, Latex and or heat resistant

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)  Eye protection should be be provided and worn as necessary.  Hearing protection should be provided and worn as necessary.  Gloves should be worn while working with chemicals  Managers are responsible to ensure appropriate PPE is being worn.  PPE is intended to allow you to go home in the same physical condition you arrived in.

Ladder / Stepstool Safety  Lights bulbs, air lines, electrical and low voltage/computer lines should be the cause of work at heights in the shops.  Falls from ladders can result in injury or death.  Use the appropriate tools for the job.  Inspect all ladders prior to utilizing it for the job.  Stepstools used to access vehicles should be actual stepstools, not five gallon buckets.

Injury Avoidance Housekeeping  We work in areas with other people.  It is very important to keep work areas neat and free of slip / trip / or fall hazards.  Ensure no sharp objects are protruding into the path of other employees.  Ensure the pathway to exits and electrical panels are clear and appropriately marked.

Strain Sprain Avoidance  Lift with your legs or a mechanical device not your back.  Get a buddy to avoid straining or spraining yourself while moving equipment or material.  Utilize a mechanical advantage, a hand truck, pallet jack, or fork lift rather than lifting a heavy or awkward object by yourself.

Driving For The Organization  Responsibility / Liability  All persons driving on an errand for the organization, or in the course and scope of their job are of concern to the organization.  We do not want you to be injured while performing an outside task for the organization, so the same safety guidelines apply.  We do not want you to injure other people while working for the organization, so again safety guidelines apply.

Driving For Honest-1 Auto Care Cell phone usage while driving is discouraged. State law requires hands free device while talking on the phone while driving. State law prohibits texting while driving. Employees who are charged with traffic violations while driving will be solely responsible for all liabilities that result from such actions. Violation of the above laws while acting as an employee of is a violation of employee rules and guidelines.

Emergency Actions  An evacuation map for the building are located by all exit doors  The map shows the location of exits, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and where to assemble outside.

Incidents, Injuries, and Near Misses  All of the above are required to be reported to the store Manager.  An Incident is an event that damages physical property, or interrupts production.  An Injury is damage to a person that may require first aid or further medical attention.  A Near Miss is what you recognize when someone or something almost was injured or damaged.

Incidents, Injuries, and Near Misses  Companies that report on near misses generally have fewer actual cases of personnel injury or physical damage.  All of the above require some level of investigation to determine the causation of the event, and to document how to avoid the same type of occurrence in the future.  A manager produces the root cause analysis, and owners review the report. Each root cause should be discussed in the next safety meeting or a meeting should be held to discuss lessons learned.

Incidents, Injuries, and Near Misses  Report Injuries to the manager or assistant manager.  First Aid kit locations: Show employees where the kit is located.  In case of a clear emergency call 911. In all other instances get the Manager or Assistant Manager immediately.

Incidents, Injuries, and Near Misses  An employee injured badly enough to go to a medical provider will be driven by a company representative. It would be dangerous for a person to operate a motor vehicle directly after having been injured.  Each shop should identify a non emergency care clinic to use as a standard go to location. If an employee has their own Dr. and wishes to see them that is their right. But initial care should be at an urgent care facility.

Reporting unsafe conditions or practices  This is very similar to reporting near misses.  If you see something that is unsafe or someone working unsafely, immediately report it to either the assistant manger or manager.
