PUBLIC CHARTER ON-LINE SCHOOL

WHAT TYPES OF STUDENTS ATTEND AN ON-LINE SCHOOL?  At-risk students  Students with health issues  Students with mental health issues  Students who want to move through courses at their own pace  Students who need to do school work out side of the normal 8-3 time slot  Students who need to take extra time with course work  Students who have been bullied in school  Regular, average students  Students in failing schools

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF AN ON-LINE SCHOOL? One size does not fit all! As educators we address learning styles so why not school styles. Parents should be able to choose the best school for their child. Is there a place for them in education?

HOW DO WE FIND OUR STUDENTS?  The best method is referral from currently enrolled students.  Sometimes school counselors refer students to us.  We conduct info sessions all across the state.  We send out mailings  Advertising

Accelerated-Motivated-Gifted 1)Students can move through a course at their own speed. 2)Students can take as many courses as they can handle. 3)Students can take high school credit as early as 5 th grade. 4)Gifted student have a gifted teacher for their homeroom and to enhance their educational experience. 5)Dual Enrollment is available. 6)Advance Placement courses available Unmotivated & Struggling 1)Academic plans are created. 2)A variety of interventions for all grades are available. 3)Regular contact by teachers is provided. 4)Counselor support is available. 5)SPED and 504 students have staff support. 6)Curriculum has learning styles activities. 7)Modifications can easily be made in lessons. 8)Progress monitoring ADDRESSING STUDENT DIFFERENCES!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TEACHER!  Teachers and staff assemble at the beginning of each day for announcements and sharing.  Grading  Regular scheduled contacts  Check webmail and  Data retrieval  Collaboration  Contact students with overdue lessons  Prepare and/or deliver Livelessons
