Problems of Practice  Not all students at SMS are actively engaged in their learning experience.  We have not exhausted our instructional resources with respect to increasing student engagement at SMS.  One contributing factor to a lack of student engagement is that our students are unclear about the purpose of both daily and long term educational goals.

Theory of Action  To increase student engagement at the classroom level, we will improve our communication, delivery, and achievement of instructional purpose by developing learning and instructional targets for students, including the students themselves in the development and achievement monitoring process.

Theory of Action – continued  To assist students with learning gaps that reduce both engagement and access to achieving success at the regular classroom level, we are increasing the intentionality, fidelity, and impact of our “Response To Intervention” program. Identification processes Scheduling processes Delivery processes Assessment processes

Professional Development  RTI – Recommended staff trainings both on and offsite.  Purpose Development – Based on the 5 Dimensions, working with the ESD to provide direct and intentionally assistance for our teachers.  “Best Practice” support for teachers in math and literacy to increase access to learning for all students.
